Group,
I write to thank you for loaning a class set of Belkin TuneTalks for use with LITC iPods in RGTE 0199 Regents’ Essay Writing this Fall. Now that the students’ scores are back, it is even more clear that the ability to record and replay peer response to their writing had the desired effect on the writing itself. Almost all students succeeded in passing the Regents’ Essay in late October or early November.
As you know, students are registered in RGTE 0199 when they have completed 45 or more semester hours of credit without satisfying the Regents’ Essay requirement. The majority of these students had one or more previous experiences of failure on this high-stakes test. Our plan was to build confidence through recorded oral feedback. An unforeseen positive consequence was that these students’ esteem seemed to rise as well, based on the trust placed in them that they would be responsible for valuable equipment. Thank you for making all this possible.
